RIFF JTAG – HTC Flyer 4G P515E Unbrick, IMEI, SuperCID, ModelID repair supported

02.11.2012   RIFF JTAG – HTC Flyer 4G P515E Unbrick, IMEI, SuperCID, ModelID repair supported

Repairing bricked HTC Flyer4G (PG4130000) is easy with the RIFF Box. Phone is auto powered on with USB Data Cable connected to the PC while battery is connected. Please note, battery presense is required.
Some (or all) revisions of HTC Flyer4G (PG4130000) boards have JTAG interface disabled (that is enable MARM JTAG Fuse is blown in the MSM chip). In this case the JTAG may be enabled only by firmware itself. This is done by the DBL loader, so if DBL area is damanged and MCU has JTAG Disable FUSE blown then there is no way to resurrect your phone via JTAG interface. However, in this case you may use HTC Flyer4G (PG4130000) USB DLL version which does not require JTAG interface and does resurrection procedure via USB cable.
Resurrector will reflash radio’s boot zone (except DBL area) and will re-write PDA’s SPL to 1.14.0001 version. Additionally to SPL and Radio zones, the zone which contains Model ID is re-flashed too. Thus after resurrection phone will have Model ID = ‘PG413****’.

To resurrect HTC Flyer:

  •  Solder JTAG cable to HTC Flyer JTAG pads;
  •  Insert battery and connect USB Data cable;
  •  Make sure HTC Flyer4G (PG4130000) is selected in the list of models;
  •  If you use only battery, press Power On key;
  •  Click Resurrect button;
  •  Wait till software signals a successful operation completion;
  •  Disconnect power supply, de-solder JTAG wires;

Now phone is in bootable condition, that is, even if it does not start up normally you can flash it using known flashing methods. You can use CWM recovery to flash any ZIP file – for this during resurrection add BOOT & RECOVERY zones to be resurrected too.

To enter download mode:

  •  Disconnect PC cable;
  •  Insert battery;
  •  Hold ‘Volume Down’ key and press ‘Power ON’ button.

RIFF JTAG Manager v1.44, RIFF Box Firmware v1.33 Released – Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 support

20.07.2012  RIFF JTAG Manager v1.44, RIFF Box Firmware v1.33 Released – Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 support

JTAG Manager 1.44
—————————

  • Added support for a set of QUALCOMM Snapdragon S4 MCUs (like MSM8960): these devices are added to Targets list
  • Added “Override Embedded I/O Voltage” feature: in some rare cases users can use this option to stabilize the weak signals by increasing/decresing JTAG I/O voltage levels, thus overriding embedded voltage settings in a DLL. For this: click “Advanced Settings” button on the “Box Service” page and select a desired voltage level. NOTE, “Override Settings” is valid for current session only, and it is automatically disabled upon next JTAG Manager startup.
  • Few minor rearrangments & fixes.

Firmware 1.33
—————————

  • Added few more processor controll “HAS” script instructions.
  • Added support for a set of QUALCOMM Snapdragon S4 MCUs (like MSM8960).

RIFF JTAG – HTC Desire Z (HTC Vision) Unbrick, Unlock, IMEI&CID repair supported

12.10.2011    HTC Desire Z (HTC Vision) Unbrick, Unlock, IMEI&CID repair supported

Resurrecting HTC Desire Z is easy. Phone is auto powered on with USB Data Cable connected to the PC while battery is connected.
Some (or all) revisions of HTC Desire Z boards have JTAG interface disabled (that is enable MARM JTAG Fuse is blown in the MSM7230 chip). In this case the JTAG may be enabled only by firmware itself. This is done by the FSBL loader, so writing to FSBL area is artificially disabled in the DCC Loader code. DCC Loader will discard all flashing attempts into FSBL zone and will respond with success code as if flashing succeeded. In this way FSBL zone is protected while user still can flash full image files seamlessly.

Resurrector will reflash radio’s boot zone (except FSBL area) and will re-write one of selected PDA’s SPL versions (0.76.2000 or 0.85.0005). Additionally to SPL and Radio zones, the zone which contains Model ID is re-flashed too. Thus after resurrection phone will have Model ID = ‘PC1010000’.
There is option to reflash BOOT and RECOVERY zones.

Please note, if your phone has the FSBL loader damaged and MCU has JTAG FUSE blown then there is no way to resurrect your phone via JTAG interface.

To resurrect HTC Desire Z:

  •  Solder JTAG cable to HTC Desire Z JTAG pads;
  •  Insert batter and connect USB Data cable;
  •  Make sure HTC Desire Z is selected in the list of models;
  •  If you use only battery, press Power On key;
  •  Click Resurrect button;
  •  Wait till software signals a successful operation completion;
  •  Disconnect power supply, de-solder JTAG wires;

Now phone is in bootable condition, that is, even if it does not start up normally you can flash it using known flashing methods.

To enter download mode:

  •  Disconnect PC cable;
  •  Insert battery;
  •  Hold ‘Volume Down’ key and press ‘Power ON’ button.

RIFF JTAG – JTAG Manager v1.29, RIFF Box Firmware v1.21 released

31.03.2011  JTAG Manager v1.29, RIFF Box Firmware v1.21 released

JTAG Manager 1.29
—————————

  • Fixed bug with plugins managing in case there is more than 1 plugin DLL available;
  • Currently selected plugin is remembered now and will stay on next startups;
  • Fixed Access Violation error during software startup in case there is none resurrector DLL present;
  • Added Reset Method selection feature for more precise reset operation when Custom Target Settings is active;
  • Updates manager & Updates tracking were completely reworked, and now are based not on the system time but on file’s hashing.
    Thus since now on the JTAG Manager’s installation folder can be copied/moved/re-installed (whatever else) without need to re-download full set of files again.
  • (SDK): more functions are now available (exported) for future Resurrector DLLs;
  • Many cosmetic changes;
  • FINALLY: “healed” the optimized DLL loading scheme:
    User shall see: “Found and Initialized: XXX New and YYY Old External Repair Pack(s)” where XXX must be always non-zero only on first startup after there were new DLLs downloaded from the support.
    On following JTAG Manager startups XXX shall be always equal to zero (!!!)
    For example, after downloading 3 more new DLLs while there were 100 Resurrector DLLs already installed, after JTAG Manager restarts user shall see:
    Found and Initialized: 3 New and 100 Old External Repair Pack(s)
    on next and all following restarts user shall see:
    Found and Initialized: 0 New and 103 Old External Repair Pack(s)
  • Re-worked balloon hints system – Own (not windows’) balloons are shown, so no matter now what are the windows’ tray icon settings are.
  • Added balloon hints for cases when target is not detected, error code 0x45, Device Id = 0x000000E1.
    Don’t forget that balloons hints can be switched on or off from the DCC Read/Write page – click “Notifications…” and select”For Advanced Users” page to see settings
  • – JTAG Manager now has new Icons 🙂
  • – Improved JTAG Manager restarting during updating itself

Firmware 1.21
—————————

  • Added RX-polling feature (debugger-to-target) for PXA3XX DCC transfers.

RIFF BOX firmware is able now to wait (if resurrector DLL will request so) for PXA3XX target to be ready to accept
next packet over DCC: this feature slows down a little the JTAG-to-Target DCC
transfers but guaranties no packets loss for slow clocked targets;

Please click “Check For Updates” button in order to download and apply new files. Closing all running application before starting update process is recommended.
